Tears like summer rain

Once you told me in the early morning light
that you would leave me filled with tears
that would run like summer rain.

And now you’re gone,
and hours seem to fade into my lost and lonely nights.

So, darling, sing my song that both we knew that it was wrong.

You left my heart beat low and slow –
now I wonder where did time go?

So tell me please what was so wrong
that I deserved a lifetime filled with pain.

Oh I still love you in a way
that never shall be known –
and won’t you please come back to me in dreams that fill my empty nights.

Come back to where you smiled at me –
the place that I so long to be –
so please don’t stay away from memory
that dwells forever in my soul.

And now you’re gone,
and hours seem to fade into my lost and lonely nights.

Oh I still love you in a way that
never will be known –
and won’t you please come back to me in dreams that fill my
empty nights.

Come back to where you smiled at me –
the place that I so long to be.

Don’t stay from memory
that dwells forever in my soul.

And know that you will always be my own –
and when you told me,
that you’d leave me here in tears,
I kissed away the thought –
so darling, sing my song –
that I still love you for eternity.
